THE SUN RA ARKESTRA MEETS SALAH RAGAB IN EGYPT

it’s actually more a ‘salah ragab plays with…’ thing: egypt strut and watusa feature the sun ra arkestra with salah on drums and congas, alongside regulars like john gilmore, marshall allen and danny thompson. oriental mood is by salah’s own quintet. ramadan and farewell theme are played by a 21-musician ensemble, the cairo jazz band, where salah plays drums and congas. in music for angela davis, he is on the drums with the cairo free jazz ensemble.
