This is a great album. I bought it in 1978 and haven't seen it anywhere since!
The first 4 tracks made up side one and side 2 was all one long track (Sangam), which has
Cherry on organ and Khan on tabla.

very cool stuff, thanks!

It's too fast! It's playing a tone too fast... I just checked it against the vinyl and the rip I posted on andifihadtwocoats... and I swear, your turntable's spinning too fast. Like, a whole tone. I'm positive it's not me spinning to slow.

I have this ripped to .aif so I can repost it .flac'd or whatever, but in the meantime listen to this (aac) and... well, judge for yourselves..!

Oops, sorry: here's the link

(This is only one track, Air Mail, just so you can hear the difference...)

All right, feel free to repost it!

Nice rip! Good job on the vinyl transfer whoever did it. Doesn't sound too fast to me. The playing on here is very reminiscent of the recordings on Latif Ahmed Khan's 'Solo Tabla' cd, which was recorded in Switzerland in 1976/77.
He had a tremendous original groove, with a funkiness that is missing from the more traditional-minded tabla players.

Vesper,

Thanks for sharing this! Don Cherry's releases are so varied in sound, and he is a truly prolific musician with a knack to play just about any type of music. This sounds like trance-inducing Jazz with an Indian raga backdrop. Definitely worth checking out.

Thanks for posting this, but none of the links (to the "slow" or "fast" versions) work for me. Any chance of re-posting?
