I'm very glad to see that these older India Navigation LPs are not forgotten. Too bad that many have never been available on CD while most others are now OOP since a long time.

Thanks for this post.

This was such a great label, Vesper; I have the Outside Within on LP, which think DID appear on CD for a little while as well. I wonder if this pone did. But Cecil McBee's records are also beautiful, as is Pharoah Sanders date under his own name--this is not for your edification since I know you know; I'm just remembering. For me, this and Outside Within are favorites in his catalogue; he kinda lost his way or something. I don't know what happened. But thank you for posting this gem.

Nice Post!
As you said, I'm probably a lucky sailor. Some weeks ago I could also found Cecil McBee's "Compassion", with Chico Freeman, which I lost many years ago. I's great to travel Blogland...
Thanks Vesper

Thanks Vesper. 1st time hearing Chico F. for me. And thanks again for Cecil Payne's Zodiac. I've listened to it about a million times since discovering it here.

this looks like a good one. you never know with chico - some of his stuff (destiny's dance, luminous, unspoken word) are just great, others are quite questionable. acoustic, early, great band - this has all the makings of a classic one. thanks for it.

I have this one on vinyl, so I'm good, but I just wanted to thank you anyway. It's a great album that people should know about. There's another album by him called Still Sensitive that is very good too.

Ever since I laid my hands on Freeman's "No Time Left", I can't wait to hear more and more by him. I'm really impressed by his attitude - when it was somewhat natural to become compromised, entangled in producing jazz-pap or straight pop, this guy was making a music that stretched its own definitions. It's a nice music, too, devilishly free and fantastically logical at the same time. It takes a lot of daring to make such music, and I'm very much impressed by his bravura.
That said, thank you very much for this offering :)

Thanks so much for posting this. I've played it twice this morning -- it brightened up the day. Any chance his "Kings of Mali" LP might make an appearance here some day?
